IstriaIstria is the northernmost part of Croatia. Formerly a part of Italy shares its history and its culture with Venezia Giulia. The Venetian influence is very visible in its seaside towns.
Istria is famous for its fantastic sea, the rustic flavors and fish cuisine. Pola, the largest city in Istria, offers in addition to the wonderful sea magnificent Roman ruins. Rovinj offers the atmosphere of old times, narrow streets, small squares, Venetian architecture and enchanting nature. Umag, small port very close to Trieste, and Porec with its Romanesque-Venetian influences are two little gems. |
