Arts challenging the future. Cividale del Friuli has finally welcomed the 30th edition of Mittelfest, the festival of the arts (dance, music, theatre) that started yesterday, 27th August and will go on until September 5th with a varied progamme of events. Today the opening ceremony will be attended by Giacomo Pedini, Mittelfest artistic director, Mittelfest president Roberto Corciulo, Friuli Venezia Giulia president Massimiliano Fedriga, the regional cultural deputy Tiziana Gibelli, Cividale's mayor Daniela Bernardi and Slovenia's president Borut Pahor.
This year's theme is “Eredi” (Heirs): famed Italian and international artists will perform on stage as well as new talents. “This thirtieth anniversary of the festival coincides with one of the most difficult moments in recent human history. The global challenge of the pandemic has united and raised new walls and borders between countries. Then it became all the more important on this anniversary, which falls "in the middle of the journey of our life", as Dante would say, whose 700th anniversary of death is celebrated this year, to confirm the original vocation of the festival, as it was born in 1991 after the fall of the Berlin Wall. That is to make culture a bridge to unite, to give everyone new strength, passion and foresight " said Mittelfest president Roberto Corciulo.

Mittelfest 2021 will feature 31 artistic projects: 17 for music, 6 for theatre, 5 for dance, plus 3 shows selected for Mittelyoung, thus including an overall 18 never-before-seen shows, 8 productions and coproductions, involving 13 countries of the Middle-European area. Mittelyoung had already hosted, in June, 9 shows that won an international competition: 3 dance shows, three musical shows and three theatre ones, representing six different nationalities.

Mittelfest is supported by Friuli Venezia Giulia regional government, Cividale del Friuli's mayor, CiviBank, Ente Regionale FVG and is also sustained by the contribution of MIC/Fus, Fondazione Friuli, Camera di Commercio Pordenone e Udine, ARLeF - Agjenzie Regjonâl pe Lenghe Furlane, PromoturismoFVG.

From Genova to Trieste by boat: A new challenge from Barcolana 2021

20/8/2021

Picture
A simple formula but gripping and competitive from the famous Friulian regatta Barcolana. Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano and Yacht Club Italiano, with the support of Fincantieri, presented the first edition of “RoundItaly Genova-Trieste”. The year 2021 sees the inauguration of the longest non-stop regatta of the Mediterranean: 1,130 miles of sailing along the Italian coasts, with a single and spectacular obligatory passage in the strait of Messina.
Competitors have already started to sign in for the event, organized by the two yacht clubs and in partnership with Confindustria Nautica in its capacity as organizer of the 61st Salone Nautico di Genova, that will unite, with a spectacular regatta, the two capitals of Italian sailing, national harbours, in their love for the sea at a moment of maximum visibility.
RoundItaly Genova-Trieste will, in fact, start on September 16th 2021 – the day of the inauguration of the Salone Nautico – from Genova and will arrive in Trieste during the days of the Barcolana, along the same finishing line of the largest sailing race in the world, in front of Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia. The timing of the first to arrive will be considered the new sailing record of the Genova-Trieste route, which ideally will also unite the shipyards of the navalmeccanico Group of the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic shores.
“A new, big race is born – comments the chairman of the Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano, Mitja Gialuz – and it is born under the sign of the partnership between SVBG, YCI and Confindustria Nautica. The genesis of this event is singular: last year we thought of uniting Genova and Trieste, SVBG and YCI, Salone Nautico and Barcolana with a virtual regatta in which over 21 thousand e-sailors participated from all over the world. This route was so fascinating and the challenge so interesting from the sports point of view that we wanted to bring it from the virtual world to the real one. We are talking about one of the new routes of the Barcolana, conceived together with the Yacht Club Italiano under the sign of a collaboration that honours us, and the willingness to team up to enhance culture and develop the offshore sailing projects in Italy”.
“The link with Trieste – says the chairman of the Yacht Club Italiano Gerolamo Bianchi – has become stronger with the excitement and commitment to trace a new route together, uniting two cities so far apart, but so similar when it comes to their DNA and culture. A non-stop race of over 1,100 miles is unique in the Mediterranean, full of ‘insidious’ but fascinating passages and, above all, it will certainly be coveted by record hunters. After the partnership between our Millevele and Barcolana, and the SVBG/YCI mixed crew on Persico 69Fs last summer, we are happy with this development that goes way beyond the formal relationships of reciprocity, by underlining and strengthening the friendship and team spirit between the two cities and the two clubs”.
“The organization of this regatta – explains Dean Bassi, Offshore Sports Director of the Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano – enables the creation of a close link between the regattas in the Tyrrhenian at the beginning of September, the regattas in the Alto Adriatico of mid-October and the season’s finale in Malta, creating new opportunities for the yachtsmen who want to be protagonists of the Mediterranean during the second half of the season. We are working together with the Yacht Club Italiano from a technical point of view in order to make RoundItaly Genova-Trieste particularly interesting for the crews, who will have to face numerous tactical choices in order to excel, and for the public thanks to a multimedia narrative able to capture and offer new points of view on our seas and coasts”.
- Registrations have already opened for Class40 yachtsmen . ”Class40 – says Pietro Luciani, vice-president of Class40 - enthusiastically supports the project of this fascinating race in the heart of the Mediterranean: over 1,100 miles on a varied and exigent route are unique in the panorama of Mare Nostrum and represent a challenge that the skippers of Class40 are eager to face”.
The event will also have a strong commitment linked to sustainability, becoming an opportunity to monitor the Italian seas. Along the RoundItaly route, the crews will collect a series of images concerning the condition of the sea and the marine flora and fauna, paying particular attention to the issue of plastic waste. The information gathered will be used as topics for reflection in Trieste, on the occasion of the Barcolana Sea Summit on the condition of the Mediterranean.
RoundItaly Genova – Trieste will also promote the RECO project, and will foresee the presence on board of an ecological manager, as was the case on the occasion of Barcolana52 and the 68th edition of the Rolex Giraglia.

It was meant to be one of the greatest showcases for italian wines in Asia . Unfortunately the second edition of
Wine to Asia (
http://www.wine2asia.net)  had to be postponed.
Following the Emergency Notice issued by the Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention , in view of the COVID-19 outbreak in Nanjing has spread across provinces and the severe and complex strategy of pandemic prevention and control, Wine to Asia, which was originally scheduled to be held in Shenzhen World Convention and Exhibition Center (Bao ‘an) from August 12 to 14, 2021, cannot be held as scheduled. De- tails of the new dates and event agenda will be announced as soon as confirmed.
Wine to Asia, as the first world-class wine and spirits exhibition in Shenzhen, is jointly organized by Veronafiere (Vinitaly organizer) and Shenzhen Pacco Cultural Communication. It is a new professional and effective trade-focused platform for international producers and dealers to connect with diverse and potential consumer markets from Shenzhen to whole Asia.
With more than one hundred years of experience, as the leading organizer of trade shows and events in Italy, Veronafiere cooperates with Shenzhen Pacco, the leading organizer of exhibition and marketing events of wine and spirits in China, to provide opportunities to build worldwide and efficient network for wine and spirits.
At the second edition of Wine to Asia, thanks to a strong commitment from ITA / ICE Italian Trade Agency, the Italian Pavilion had more than doubled compared to the 2020 edition, with 170 wineries from 16 Italian regions. Italy will be present with five consortia from north to south and with six masterclasses. Consorzio Tutela Soave, Consorzio Franciacorta, Consorzio Tutela Vini Valpolicella, Consorzio Tutela Vini D’Abruzzo and Wines of Sicilia DOC await operators from all over China.
China records the highest percentage growth in the world for Italian wine. In China, in the first four months of 2021, Italian wine grew by 73% to 41 million euros. Italy ranks third in imported wines and follows France and Chile. For the first time Italy reaches double figures and reaches 10.30 percent of bottled wine exported to China. For sparkling wines, on the other hand, Italy is in second place, second only to France.
With the vast and varied terroir, Italy is home to 20 regions with more than 400 grape varieties and more than 20,000 wineries. According to the 2020 Global Wine Consumption and Production Report of the International Organization of Grape and Wine (OIV), Italy remains the world’s largest wine producer and exporter.
