CANTINE APERTE A SAN MARTINO 2022, WINERIES OPEN FOR TASTINGS IN FVG

It's again that time of the year known in Italy as “St. Martin's Summer” (estate di San Martino). We actually had plenty of it already, as temperatures up to last week had been soaring to unusual peaks for the current season. But St. Martin's celebrations mean a lot more than that, as they're also a good occasion to feast on new wine (novello or nouveau wine) and venture into wine cellars where the recently harvested grapes rest in barrels, waiting to become next year's sensational wines. And in Friuli Venezia Giulia you can do that this weekend, on November 12 and 13, thanks to the annual event “Cantine Aperte a San Martino 2022” (Wineries Open at St. Martin's) by Movimento Turismo del Vino FVG. 

Multiple wine and food tastings will delight tourists, wine lovers and foodies all around the region. 41 local winemakers will open their gates to visitors for various events: guided wine tastings with winemakers and sommeliers, wine pairings with food, sensory workshops. And “A Tavola con il Vignaiolo” is back: for “Sit down at the table with winemakers”, lunches and dinners will be held at winemakers' locations, restaurants and agriturismi (a typical “restaurant & farm” combo) with special menus celebrating autumn and seasonal ingredients. Plus the event “Piatto Cantine Aperte a San Martino 2022”: on Sunday 13 some of the adhering wineries (here's the full list) will feature a special dish (“piatto”) belonging to the Friulian traditional cuisine, paired with a wine.

Besides, the regional brand “Io Sono Friuli Venezia Giulia” (I am Friuli Venezia Giulia) which characterizes local, typical products and guarantees for their origin and sustainability, has renewed the partnership with “Cantine Aperte a San Martino” and Movimento del Vino FVG, making it possible to taste Friulian products and take part to many events enhancing them (just as “Piatto Cantine Aperte a San Martino 2022”, organized thanks to their collaboration).
