Unanimous consent was also given to the confirmation of Maurizio D’Osualdo, Corno di Rosazzo vice-mayor, as his second in command. The board has been extended from five to seven members thus giving representation to all vitivinicultural areas in the region, and it includes: Ilaria Peloi (Casarsa della Delizia municipality's council member), Giorgio Cattarin (for Cormòns), Daniele Sergon (Capriva del Friuli mayor), Lara Tosolini (Cividale del Friuli municipality’s council member) and Città del Vino ambassador Gianpiero Colecchia (for Duino Aurisina).
Some new directions have already been taken to widen the association’s activities: a crucial one is the direct involvement of Prolocos (local associations promoting their territory’s culture and traditions, widely spread all over Italy), who set up many events in Friuli Venezia Giulia and already collaborated at FVG top summer event for wine, Calici di Stelle. Antonio Tesolin, President of Casarsa della Delizia Proloco “Pro Casarsa”, will be in charge of the coordination between Prolocos and Città del Vino FVG: it was almost a due choice, as Pro Casarsa della Delizia is the only Proloco joining the Città del Vino national network (usually reserved to municipalities and regions), an exception maybe coming from its key role in organizing the renowned “Sagra del Vino” in Casarsa, an historical event that's been running for 73 years now (the 2021 edition will take place this summer).
«We never stopped, not even in 2020 during the pandemic – said Tiziano Venturini – and promoted last August Calici di Stelle, with just as many visitors as in the previous editions. There are many projects in line, from the wine-focused Erasmus scholarship to the grape harvest open to tourists, from environmental sustainability to developing new rules for the Rural Police along with the University of Udine, and we’ll soon release some news about that».
Città del Vino national President Floriano Zambon also took part in the assembly, greeting the Friuli Venezia Giulia section as his term of office is about to expire. «I'd like to thank all the board, the ambassadors and all the regional cities of wine for our path together – said Zambon – and a particular thank you to Duino Aurisina for its nomination to Italian National Città del Vino 2021, with a project that was among the best three, thus laying the foundations for further nominations».
About Città del Vino network
The national network Città del Vino started in 1987 in Siena (Tuscany), with only 39 mayors. It's now made of 500 members all over Italy, from north to south: all of them cities, provinces, regions, parks and institutions from territories that are strongly and historically linked to winemaking and vineyards. Its main goal is to help developing a sustainable and more effective winetourism, by enhancing the associates' key strengths: local wines and products, local wineries, touristic accomodations and historical, architectural and natural routes.
There are 25 towns in Friuli Venezia Giulia adhering to the regional section Città del Vino FVG, and they are: Aquileia, Bertiolo, Buttrio, Camino al Tagliamento, Capriva del Friuli, Casarsa della Delizia, Chiopris Viscone, Cividale del Friuli, Cormòns, Corno di Rosazzo, Dolegna del Collio, Duino Aurisina, Gorizia, Gradisca d’Isonzo, Latisana, Manzano, Moraro, Nimis, Povoletto, Premariacco, Prepotto, San Giorgio della Richinvelda, Sequals, Trivignano Udinese, Torreano, plus Pro Casarsa della Delizia.
