Do Ville (see picture on the right) is a family owned winemaking firm based in Ronchi dei Legionari, a town near Gorizia, home to a series of local winemakers. Its “Ars Vivendi” brand (meaning “the art of living” in Latin) includes more local wines, both red and white, in addition to the awarded ones: Cabernet, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Rosé. And the Giuliano, made from Friulian Tocai grapes which are grown in a very specific microclimate, tempered by the Isonzo River and cooled by sea breezes and by the cold air drifting down the Karst ridges. This area is mostly part of the Venezia Giulia territory, whence the name “Giuliano”.
Cantina Rauscedo is named after the town that hosts it, near Pordenone. A land among rivers, where the saying goes as “water divides men, but wine unites them”. Its winemaking activity started over 65 years ago and now offers a great variety of wines: sparkling wines like Prosecco and Moscato, DOC (Denomination of Controlled Origin) local wines like Friulano and Merlot, the “meditation wine” Elia, aromatic liquers. And also some very special treats like the brand “Villamanin”, named after the historical country estate built around the XVII century by the Manin family in Passariano, a small town near Udine: Villamanin Rosso and Classico Villamanin Brut are produced in a limited number of bottles, only in excellent vintages from grapes harvested in the best vineyards surrounding Villa Manin, which is just opposite to Cantina Rauscedo's new winery. And it's sure worth a visit...
