From October 21st to October 25th, in Cormòns and in many nearby locations there'll be music all day (and night long), from theatres to winemakers facilities and astonishing ancient villas and mansions.
Out of the 31 main events, 18 will bring jazz big stars from all over the world, like the Italian premiere of famed duo John Scofield & Dave Holland at Gorizia's theatre, and the Italian exclusive performance by Scandinavian Trio Rymden with Norwegian pianist Bugge Wesseltoft, Magnus Öström and Dan Berglund. Many female artists will take to the stage, like New York-based saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin and Linda May Han Oh, the famous Malaysian double-bass player.
Music won't stop even in small clubs and restaurants with the Round Midnight events, by night or at happy hour time, meant to give the audience a taste of local music and food too.
Jazz&Taste, wine and music playing together
Matching wine tastings with live music is one of the greatest goal of Jazz&Wine of Peace. Jazz&Taste will feature 12 events this year, organized by artistic director and guitarist Eduardo Contizanetti in different locations: Enoteca di Cormòns, Borgo San Daniele, Gradis’ciutta, Tenuta Luisa, Borgo Conventi, Lis Neris, Polje, Klanjscek. A new entry in the team is also the Tasting Academy of Colli Orientali del Friuli. Pianist Francesca Tandoi and bass player Stefano Senni, guitarists Adelaide and Roberto Gemo, singer Elsa Martin, saxophonist Filippo Orefice and trumpeteer Federico Pierantoni are among the Italian jazz musicians due to perform during local wines and food tastings, led by wine experts and sommeliers.
Jazz&Taste has become so successful that it's now part of the national project Jazz & Wine Italia, also created by Circolo Controtempo, which involves 8 Italian regions where it will help promote local wine territories through jazz music.
About Jazz&Wine of Peace
It all started when Cantina Produttori di Cormons made the “Peace Wine” during the ex-Yugoslavian conflict in the 90's. Since its first edition in 1998, the festival gradually transformed into both an instrument for a message of openness, and a key element of promotion for local activities through the magic of live music.
Cormòns is an outstanding, special spot because, despite being a small town, it counts almost 60 wine producers in its area. Also the Consorzio Collio, Consorzio Colli Orientali and Enoteca di Cormòns are among Jazz & Wine of Peace's many partners. And Jazz&Wine of Peace has grown into an international festival, attracting in the past years world famous musicians like Dave Brubeck, the late McCoy Tyner, Jan Garbarek and Richard Galliano.
The 2021 edition is organized by Circolo Controtempo together with Cormòns' Municipality, and supported by Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Government, the Italian Ministry for Cultural Activities and Heritage, the Chamber of Commerce Venezia Giulia Fondo Gorizia, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Gorizia, Promo Turismo FVG. It also counts on the collaboration of local winemakers, producers and associations, such as: Cantina Produttori di Cormòns, Kud Morgan, Kulturni Dom Nova Gorica, Kulturni Dom Gorizia, Fondazione Abbazia di Rosazzo, Movimento Turismo del vino, Borgo Conventi, Borgo San Daniele, Castello di Spessa, Gradis’ciutta, Jermann, Klanjscek, Lis Neris, Guida Slow Food Osterie d’Italia, Polje, Tenuta Luisa, Tenuta Villanova, Villa Attems, Villa Nachini Cabassi, Tasting Academy dei Colli Orientali, Villa Codelli, Villa Vipolže.
