A perfect scenery for relaxing vacations, the Upper and Lower Lakes lie in a montuos amphitheatre towered by Mount Mangart, which is one of the regions' highest peaks at 2.677 m above sea level. The lakes originated from a melted glacier, just as many other Alpine lakes and the overview around the wide basin they're in is simply astonishing: pines reflecting in their waters all around give the best picture of the 24.000 hectares of the spectacular Tarvisian forest they're all part of.
It's the reason why the Lakes of Fusine will be a set for multiple events that will liven up the 2020 summer, including both music and wine: so make sure you won't be missing these specal celebrations.
Ein Prosit Summer edition
From July 24th to the 26th the area near Tarvisio (the “Tarvisiano”) will host the summer edition of Ein Prosit, an immersing experience which combines mountain hikings, forest bathing with food masterclasses and tastings, involving local restaurants and baite (mountain cottages) and starred Italian chefs, like Emanuele Scarello from the renowned Udine-based restaurant “Agli Amici”.
A mix between tradition and high level cuisine will catch the participants' attention and appetite, as well as their thirst: a selection of excellent FVG wines will pair with the dishes, just the perfect icing on the cake.
No Borders Music Festival
Also starting in th same days will be the No Borders Music Festival. It's 25th edition will feature three concerts on July 25th and 26th, and August 1st. The artists will perform on a stage floating on the Lakes of Fusine's waters, giving the audience an unforgettable moment to remember.
The program enlists Italian musicians Brunori Sas and Elisa (who's a native Friulian), and Slovenian cello player Luka Sulic who recently filmed his performance of Bach's “Suite No. 1 in G Major” in the snowy setting of Mount Canin (Sella Nevea), right in the Tarvisian area.
The Forest Card
A special treat to attract tourists, the Forest Card will let people enjoy the varied, multiple events and leisure activities available in the Tarvisian area. Most of them are family-friendly and especially organized to engage children too, like the “fattoria didattica”, educational activities in the farm with workshop about wool-making or vegetable gardens. Tourists can choose among Nordic walking, dog trekking, speleology, rock climbing, forest bathing and many more.
There are many paths connecting natural spots nearby, with the Rifugio Zacchi (a lodge also serving local food) as a starting point, and the Lakes of Fusine are very easy to reach even with children, being just 20 minutes away from Tarvisio by car.
