The event is among the 33 events scheduled for Duino Aurisina – Devin Nabrežina Città Italiana del Vino 2022, though standing on its own for its long story as an established, not-to-be-missed appointment in Friuli Venezia Giulia for all wine lovers and wine enthusiasts. Booths will line up the streets in the city centre, with a focus on local wines and on Friulian typical dishes and products: for the first time, there'll be a special location devoted to the products bearing the label “Io Sono Friuli Venezia Giulia” (I am FVG), the brand launched a coupkle of years ago by Friuli Venezia Giulia regional government to support local farmers and producers, and their dealers.
Filari di Bolle 2022, all the winning sparklings
The Sagra del Vino will open with the award ceremony for the 8th edition of “Filari di Bolle”, the competition for the best Friulian sparkling wines. The jury already concluded the blind tastings of more than 80 sparklings, and the winners are:
- Charmat Method Prosecco Doc: Prosecco Doc Brut by Cantina Produttori Ramuscello
- Charmat Method Ribolla gialla: Ribolla Gialla Brut by Fossa Mala
- Charmat Method: Jadér Cuvée Brut by Viticoltori Friulani La Delizia
- Classic Method: VSQ Talento MC Brut Etichetta Oro 2015 by Vigneti Pietro Pittaro
- Charmat Method Prosecco Doc Rosè (new category): Prosecco Rosè Brut Millesimato by Pitars.
Viticoltori Friulani La Delizia also won the special prize for best label/packaging for their UVA Prosecco DOC Sostenibile Extra Dry and its focus on sustainability.
The “Filari di Bolle” winners will be celebrated on the opening day, on April22, and their sparklings will be up for wine tastings in the following cafés and restaurants in Casarsa della Delizia throughout the Sagra del Vino: Bar "Punto d’Ombra", Bar “Agli Amici”, Zeb Cafè, Cafè Manù, "Al Posta" restaurant. For those longing for a deeper insight into the winning sparklings, AIS FVG – Italian Sommelier Association's Friuli Venezia Giulia delegation organized a guided wine tasting with a sommelier from AIS, scheduled for May 1st at 11.00, at restaurant “Al Posta” (reservation is mandatory, please call +39.338.7874972).
Not only wines: the festival, as usual, will be the perfect showcase for creative handicrafts and cultural events. Including photo exhibits “Fotografia di un mondo migliore” (Photos of a better world) and “Persone e personaggi 2022” (People and characters 2022), art exhibitions and book launches. Besides, Casa Colussi will be celebrating Italian writer and intellectual Pier Paolo Pasolini on the 100th anniversary of his birth with a renewed exposition: he had a very special bond with Casarsa where he spent his youth along with his mother, who was born there and owned Casa Colussi, later turned into a centre of studies on Pasolini's literary works.
Fun will play an important part in the Sagra del Vino: street artists and live music will spice up the streets of Casarsa, and the fairground will delight families attending the festival with their chidlren. Plus, sporting events such as a walk for dog owners (April 24), a walk for children in the country surrounding Casarsa (April 25), a trout fishing competition (April 25) and a basket tournament (April 25). And the 50th “Marcia del Vino – Terre e città del Vino” (Wine Walk – Lands and Cities of Wine) on May 1st will take people for a stroll through the winemaking territory of Casarsa della Delizia. All the adhering bars, cafés and restaurants will have their own entertainments too, with all events scheduled from 6 p.m. to 12 p.m. during the week, and from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on festive days.
